The Fifth International Symposium on Nanotechnology in Construction (NICOM5) will be held in Chicago, USA between May 24 and May 26, 2015. Chicago is a unique vibrant city, noted for its stellar architecture and historic structures on the shores of Lake Michigan. This symposium is held every three years and has been a focal point for the presentation of the latest research in nanotechnology for construction materials. The European Union has been supporting extensive research work in nanotechnology for concrete and other construction materials, and all previous NICOM symposia were held in Europe. It is expected that hosting the NICOM5 Symposium in Chicago will help to bridge Europe and the Americas to establish long-term collaborations among scientists and practitioners from around the world.
